Western Mongolia

Mongolia is a country of pristine nature, immense and varied landscapes, enormous blue sky, nomadic culture, and hospitable people.

The most remote region of the country, that includes many National Parks, Strictly Protected areas, Nature Reserves, Nature Monuments, also home to the highest mountain Altai Mountain Range, Khuiten peak(4374 m), biggest saltwater lake Uvs Lake Basin (inscribed in “UNESCO World heritage sites” in 2003) and many smaller lakes, mountains, rivers, forests, and steppe.

Friendly to each other and very hospitable even to strangers. Mongolian people consider every Mongolian ethic people as “brothers and sisters” regardless if they personally know them or not. This friendly and hospitable behavior is one of the most famous characteristics of Mongolian people.

Mongolia is generally a very cheap destination, although private experience in Gobi Desert can be quite costly – it all depends on what you are looking for. You essentially need to do a tour as there is almost no internal transportation infrastructure. This means independent travel is virtually impossible unless you provide your own vehicle and know where to go without roads. Public traou are looknsportation is extremely minimal, also.

Scenic mountainous region of western Mongolian territory includes Zavkhan, Gobi-Altai, Khovd, Uvs, Bayan-Ulgii provinces. Spread throughout the region are countless archeological sites with ancient petroglyphs, cave paintings, standing stone monuments, monasteries, and ancient forts that date back as far as 10,000 years.
